- Støtte og stimulere arbeidet med museumsanleggene i Kristiansund som forvaltes av Nordmørsmusea AS som er det konsoliderte regionmuseet for Nordmøre. Foreningen skal være et diskusjons- og foredragsforum for museumsarbeid og kulturvern, og arbeidet skal støtte opp under Kristiansund museum (KM) sitt formål. KMV skal ikke bygge opp egne samlinger, med unntak av istandsettingsprosjekter som skal gis i gave til museet når de er ferdigstilt. Eventuelle gaver til KM skal formidles skriftlig.
